Confused what Computer you need for Personal/Official purposes ?
I get messages, phone calls from my colleagues at work, friends from facebook, whatsapp etc. You get the point i guide many people helping them choose which device to buy, they think i am quite knowledgeable when it comes to computers. I always make the effort to give my best advise for their specific needs.
People also sometimes generally walk into a store and the store sales guy would dupe them with the most amazing offer "You get everything installed PLUS you get goodies like bags and antivirus for FREE" you may buy this kind of stuff but then you realize that this is not good enough for the purpose you bought it for. It may crash as the Operating System, Microsoft office may be a pirated copy, Antivirus would be a cheap add on. So, buy a device after making sure of your requirements with it.
So, here are my Points to consider before buying :-
1) Office / General Purpose : Here is most of the people spending too much on something that they do not need so be wise spender and know what you need. Lets see what things we have in this section. LAPTOP required to check your emails, make spreadsheets, presentations, do skype meetings, for such usage you can always go for a 25,000Rs. laptop that is very well configured with genuine Operating system and a good Antivirus. Do not think it is cheap, it actually is more than adequate.
Your options:
a. If you do not want to spend too much then Buy Windows Installed Laptop that has i3/PQC processor at the least. (Price range 20K and above )
b. If price is not a concern then you can buy a MAC BOOK. (Price range 60K and above )
2) Light use : For students in school or for entertainment, everybody needs to watch YOUTUBE, Skype, Facebook etc. for such needs you can either buy a good configuration desktop that will be at home or you could prefer portability and choose chromebooks from HP.
a) Chromebooks from HP come at very affordable cost, prices start at only 12,000Rs.
b) Tablet (Tab) could also serve the purpose as it is also capable enough with prices starting at 3,000Rs.
3) High Demanding Users : Design Engineers using AutoCAD, Software programmers running VM, Linux/Windows Admins also using HyperV or VM , Video Editing/Processing, Animation. you already know that the specs you need are no match for average user, it has to be best in class. Here the fun begins, you have limited options when it comes to laptops but do keep in mind the following,
a) Processor Intel i7 Recommended / i5
b) RAM 8GB recommended
c) Graphics should not be "Intel HD Graphics" get NVIDIA/ ATI.
d) If you can buy then look for SSD storage in your laptop. This will make the difference.
Again if price is not a concern Apple macbook pro with i7 for 150,000Rs. will be a great choice.
This does not mean Acer aspire V5 573G for 45,000Rs. which has almost all of the above specs (except for SSD) will be of no use. It is a top notch performer from Acer for budget conscious buyers. There are many others too that you can look but you get the spectrum for this section.
